I will start by saying we are very excited to be able to have this website online to help you with your Sanilac County, Michigan Genealogy and Local History questions.  This site will be about finding out about your Genealogy and Local History in Sanilac County, Michigan.  I hope I can help all of you but please know I may not be able to at times, so I will try and find you the best place or persons that are out there that may be able to be of help to you.

If you would like to post a question or comment, I have given you instruction on just how to post to this website. Just look on the left side of this page, just under the Days and Hours we are open for instructions.  If you are familiar with Posting just click on the words, "Comments and Questions" that are right under this Post. All I ask is that you give me as much information that you know starting with your self and going back. If you know where in Sanilac County your Ancestor lived that is a big help.  So please remember I am a librarian who loves genealogy so I love to dig and find out all I can for you.

Please feel free to Post a Question or Comment about Sanilac County, Michigan Genealogy or Local History or Post an answer to someone's questions so we can all help each other.  The more people that post questions or comments the better we will be able to help each other. Just in case I can not help you maybe someone out there will have the answers for you or you can help others.

If you have any ideas that I can add to our website or if you see any errors please do not hesitate to Post a Comment.  I will be adding more historical pictures, more Sanilac County Genealogy or Local History links as I find them or if you know any please tell me I would really appreciate any help. I have been doing Genealogy since 1988 and so many people helped me along the way and now I want to help others like so many others helped me.  If I am able to help you all I ask is that if you are able to give a donation to the Genealogy and Local History Library it would be appreciated.

New for 2019: All members are entitled to one free hour of research from our Genealogy Department. Look for membership materials soon via email, snail mail, on Facebook and our website at   www.sanilaccountymuseum.org.

We are located inside the Sanilac County Historical Village and Museum in Port Sanilac, Michigan. We have a room in the Dr. Joseph Loop's Mansion on the grounds of the Village and Museum so please come and visit if you are in the area.  We have a great collection on Genealogy and Local History of Sanilac County and someone will be here to help you April thru Nov: Wed., Thur. and Fri. 11 am to 2 pm.  You may want to call just in case to make sure someone will be here since we are run by Volunteers and things happen but we always try and have someone on call.  Call:810-622-9946.
